Episode 34: Why I'm Optimistic
Last evening, I was sitting on one of my favorite rocks, looking towards the sunset, the light shimmering across the water. I'd just gone swimming and found myself surrounded by thousands of tiny silver fish, darting here and there as if they were one. They didn't seem to be afraid of me at all! So, having just had that experience and feeling inspired, too, by a young student whom I'd taught this week--her name is Ally--and seeing her take delight in the notes she was learning, I made this podcast about it all...
And I'm realizing, when a child takes delight--in nature, in animals, in anything!--and I join in their delight, it releases a feeling of even greater wonder. As I marvel with the child at its joyful discoveries, that child blossoms like a flower before my eyes.
I think you'll understand, as you listen, why these experiences give me hope for the future.
